Here are my top 5 educational movies this summer to show your kids:

Summer is upon us and for many parents the struggle to fill the day is real. Don’t feel guilty about settling your kids down to watch a movie. It doesn’t have to be a passive brain drain. Engage your kids with a movie guide and empower them to take control of what they learn from each film. Each movie guide can either be printed or if that is not an option, use the digital version by opening it with an ipad or tablet. However, to write in the answers on the digital movie guide version, your device must have a PDf editor app, not just a PDF viewer.

1. Wonder (PG – 2017)

My personal favorite from last year, this amazing story teaches kids to have sympathy for others and at the same time thankful for what they have.

2. Ferdinand (PG – 2017)

Does your child sometimes feel negatively pressured by other kids? Ferdinand is a great movie to foster independence and confidence while following your own path.

3. Coco (PG – 2017)

Another great film from last year. I challenge anyone to watch this film without shedding an emotional tear when Miguel’s family comes together stronger than ever at the end of this movie.

4. Pooh’s Heffalump (G – 2005)

This movie made my top 5 because of the opportunities it gives kids to realize the danger of stereotypes and how they are often completely wrong.

5. Wreck-It Ralph (PG – 2012)

Wreck-It Ralph helps kids learn that it is okay to be yourself.  Ralph’s journey to becoming comfortable in his own skin is contagious and is bound to help students feel more comfortable in accepting themselves.
