Bill Nye S01E04 Skin Video Guide

Free

Share the brilliance of Bill Nye The Science Guy with your students! This short video guide for S01E04 is a supplemental resource to help students learn about skin.

Challenge students to learn about the skin, the body’s largest organ. Introduce key words like epidermis, melanin, and pigment. Do an experiment to understand how the skin feels different temperatures. Look at how the skin protects us and keeps our body at the right temperature. Explore how melanin affects skin color and shows how people are different. Finally, learn about common skin problems and how they affect people’s daily lives.

NOTE: Unlike my other movie guides and some of my initial Bill Nye guides, this guide does not have time stamps. Teachers may choose to stop throughout the movie or watch the full episode and then re-watch necessary sections.

Check the thumbnails for high resolution sample questions to see if this movie guide is suitable for your students. This resource consists of 8 high-level, short answer reflection and essay questions that will do more than just ask your students to regurgitate information.
