October Sky Movie Guide | Questions | Worksheet (PG – 1999) challenges students to transport themselves into a coal mining town in West Virginia during the Soviet Space Race of the 1950s. Challenge your students to learn the meaning of grit and persistence from Homer and his quest to build a rocket, regardless of all the people who tried to stop him. Explore the complex relationship between Homer and his dad and ask students to analyze how they could have avoided so many misunderstandings.
